FAQs

Have questions about starting therapy or what working together might look like?

These FAQs cover some of the basics; if you don’t see what you’re looking for, click here to reach out.

  • My starting fee is $150 for a 53-minute individual therapy session. I do believe that therapy should be reasonably accessible, so a sliding scale fee may be applicable - reach out for more information.

Payment is due at the time of service and can be made by me or through the client portal.

  • I am currently paneled with the following insurance(s):
    Blue Cross Blue Shield

Additionally, I can operate as an out-of-network (OON) provider. Depending on your insurance plan, you may be eligible to receive partial reimbursement (up to 60-80%) using your out-of-network benefits. I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

  • A consultation is a free 15-minute phone call where we can connect before scheduling a full session. It gives you a chance to share a little about what you’re looking for, ask any initial questions, and get a feel for whether working together seems like a good fit.

Consultations can be helpful if you’re unsure about starting therapy, have questions about my approach, or want to make sure your needs are within the scope of what I offer. Think of it as an opportunity to interview me!

However, if you already feel comfortable based on what you’ve read here, we don’t have to do a consultation first — we can go ahead and schedule your first session and dive right in. The decision is completely up to you!

  • A good fit usually feels like a mix of safety, comfort, honesty, and trust. You’ll know we’re a good fit when you feel safe and comfortable talking about things that may otherwise feel more difficult. You don’t have to feel instantly ready to share everything, but you should feel respected, heard, and like there’s room for you to be yourself. We can always talk openly about how the process is feeling and whether my approach feels aligned with what you need.

  • Your first session is mostly about getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk through what you’ve been experiencing, what you’re hoping therapy can help with, and any important background that may shape our work together. It will likely look like me asking more questions than in a normal session.

You’ll also have space to ask questions, share what feels important, and get a sense of what therapy with me is like. The goal is to begin building comfort, clarity, and a foundation for our work ahead.

  • Therapy should be a safe and supportive place. I’m sorry if in the past it has felt dismissive, unsafe, too clinical, or unhelpful. You deserve a therapist who can provide that kind of space for you. In our work together, you’re welcome and encouraged to tell me what did and didn’t work for you in the past, and we can use that information to shape our work together. Therapy should always feel collaborative, and your feedback matters in shaping the work we do together.

  • How long you’re in therapy really depends on what you’re hoping to work through, what kind of support you’re looking for, and what feels useful over time. Some people come to therapy for a shorter period to focus on a specific concern, while others prefer longer-term support as they untangle deeper patterns, build self-trust, or move through ongoing life changes.

Many clients start by meeting weekly or biweekly, especially while we’re getting to know each other and building momentum. As therapy progresses, we can adjust the frequency based on your needs, goals, schedule, and what feels sustainable.

We’ll check in regularly about how therapy is feeling, what’s helping, and whether our work still feels aligned with where you want to go. Therapy doesn’t have to last forever, and it also doesn’t have to be rushed.

  • Sometimes, but not just for the sake of giving you work to do. I may offer tools, reflection questions, journal prompts, grounding practices, or small things to notice between sessions when they feel connected to your goals and our work together. My approach is flexible, so we’ll figure out together what kind of support helps you learn, process, and grow in a way that actually works for you.
