Terms of Use

Last Updated 29 May 2026

Welcome to the website of Garis Counseling, PLLC (“Practice,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of this website, including any pages, forms, resources, blog posts, links, or content made available through the website.

By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use this website.

1. Website Information Is Not Therapy

The information provided on this website is for general informational and educational purposes only. Nothing on this website is intended to provide psychotherapy, counseling, diagnosis, treatment, clinical advice, crisis intervention, or medical advice. Use of this website does not create a therapist-client relationship between you and Garis Counseling, Kody Garis, or any provider affiliated with the Practice. A therapist-client relationship is only established after appropriate screening, consent, intake paperwork, and mutual agreement to begin services.

2. Emergency and Crisis Situations

This website is not intended for emergencies or crisis situations. We do not provide crisis services through this website, email, contact forms, social media, or voicemail. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, believe you may harm yourself or someone else, or need immediate support, call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or contact a crisis resource such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.

Messages sent through this website may not be reviewed immediately and should not be used for urgent or emergency needs.

3. Scope of Services

Garis Counseling provides psychotherapy services to individuals and/or partnered systems located in jurisdictions where the provider is legally permitted to practice. Services may include in-person therapy, teletherapy, consultation calls, or other services described on this website. Availability of services may depend on location, clinical fit, licensure requirements, scheduling, payment arrangements, and the provider’s scope of practice. We reserve the right to decline or discontinue services when clinically, ethically, or legally appropriate.

4. Telehealth and Location Requirements

If telehealth services are offered, clients may be required to be physically located in a state or jurisdiction where the provider is authorized to practice at the time services are delivered. Telehealth may involve risks and limitations, including technology failures, privacy concerns, interruptions, or clinical limitations. Oklahoma telehealth policy includes consent requirements, and telehealth arrangements should be addressed through your informed consent and intake documentation.

Use of this website alone does not authorize telehealth treatment or guarantee that telehealth is appropriate for your needs.

5. Contact Forms, Email, and Electronic Communication

This website may allow you to contact the Practice through forms, email links, scheduling tools, or other electronic communication methods. Please avoid submitting detailed personal, clinical, or sensitive health information through website forms or standard email unless specifically instructed to do so through a secure system. Electronic communication may not be fully secure, confidential, or appropriate for sensitive clinical information. Submitting a contact form does not guarantee a response, establish a therapist-client relationship, or create any obligation for the Practice to provide services.

If you are an established client, please follow the communication procedures outlined in your informed consent and practice policies.

6. Privacy and Confidentiality

Your privacy matters. However, website use is different from participating in therapy. Information collected through this website may be handled according to our Privacy Policy, website platform practices, analytics settings, and applicable law. If you become a client, your protected health information may be subject to federal and state confidentiality laws, including HIPAA where applicable. HIPAA establishes standards for protecting certain health information from unauthorized disclosure and includes privacy and security requirements for covered entities and applicable business associates.

For more information about how information is collected, used, stored, or shared, please review our Privacy Policy and, if you become a client, the Notice of Privacy Practices.

7. No Guarantee of Outcomes

Therapy is a collaborative process, and outcomes vary based on many factors, including personal history, goals, readiness, consistency, therapeutic fit, life circumstances, and clinical needs. This website may describe potential benefits of therapy, but we do not guarantee any particular outcome, result, timeline, or experience.

Testimonials, examples, blog posts, or descriptions of services should not be understood as promises or guarantees.

8. Clinical Fit and Right to Refer

The Practice may determine that our services are not the best fit for a person’s needs. In such cases, we may provide referrals or recommendations when appropriate. Reasons for referral may include, but are not limited to, clinical acuity, crisis needs, specialized care needs, conflicts of interest, location or licensure limitations, scheduling limitations, payment limitations, or scope of practice concerns.

9. Fees, Payment, Insurance, and Scheduling

Any information on this website regarding fees, insurance, payment methods, availability, consultation calls, or scheduling is provided for general informational purposes and may change at any time. Specific fees, cancellation policies, payment responsibilities, insurance billing practices, superbills, and related financial terms are governed by the Practice’s intake paperwork, informed consent, financial agreement, or other client documents.

Use of this website does not guarantee appointment availability, insurance coverage, reimbursement, or acceptance as a client.

10. Website Content and Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, images, design elements, downloadable materials, written resources, blog posts, and other materials, is owned by or licensed to Garis Counseling unless otherwise stated.

You may view and use website content for your personal, non-commercial use only. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, publish, sell, or use website content for commercial purposes without written permission from Garis Counseling.
